Public procurement in Hungary

In general, public procurement is the point where private sector meets the public financial resources. Every year over 8 billion euros are spent on public tenders in Hungary, the regulation of which is harmonized with the EU provisions since 2004. By that means, every Community based enterprise is entitled to compete for these orders.

The Hungarian regulation is based on the Act CXXIX of 2003 on Public Procurement, which can be downloaded from here in English.

The act ensures compliance with EU directives, which means that those tenders, the estimated contract value of which exceeds the amounts defined by the EU, are subject to Community procurement procedure. These tenders must be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and in the Tenders Electronic Daily (TED).
